Is there a 911: Lone Star season 5 release date?

The highly anticipated 911: Lone Star season 5, originally slated for a 2023 release, has encountered an unforeseen hurdle in the form of ongoing Hollywood strikes. As a result, FOX has not announced the exact release date yet, but it is expected to be released sometime in 2024.

That being said, based on the previous release schedule, it is likely that the show will be released in the winter of 2024, rather than the earlier months, but this is not confirmed yet!

Has 911: Lone Star season 5 been affected by the strikes?

Much like numerous other scripted series, 911: Lone Star has become an unfortunate casualty of the ongoing writers’ strike that first emerged in May 2023. This labor dispute not only hindered the creation of essential scripts for the show but also triggered an actors’ strike, further delaying production.

Even in the event of a swift resolution in the coming weeks, the possibility of commencing production later in the year remains unlikely, which will inevitably translate into significant setbacks during the post-production phase. Consequently, FOX has made the difficult decision to postpone the release of 911: Lone Star season 5.

All of the main cast members from the previous seasons are expected to return for season 5! This includes:

  • Rob Lowe as Owen Strand
  • Gina Torres as Tommy Vega
  • Ronen Rubinstein as Tyler Kennedy “TK” Strand

  • Jim Parrack as Judd Ryder

911: Lone Star season 5 episode count

The number of episodes for season 5 of 911: Lone Star has not been officially announced yet. However, when the renewal was confirmed, it was expected to have at least 18 episodes. Previous seasons have had varying episode counts ranging from 10 to 16. It’s possible that season 5 will follow the same pattern, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. The ongoing writers’ strike adds some uncertainty, and it’s unclear if and how it might affect the episode count.

NCIS season 21: Will Gary Cole return as Alden Parker?

Alden Parker (Gary Cole) had big shoes to fill. He was tasked with stepping up in the absence of Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), aka the most iconic character in the entire NCIS franchise. To his credit, he did just that. Not only did he manage to keep the show running (metaphorically and literally), but he instilled confidence in a fanbase who may have been unsure about going forward without Gibbs.

The big question heading into season 21, of course, is whether Parker is going to stick around. There’s been a lot of time dedicated to his character, so the notion of him leaving would not only amount to a huge waste of time on the part of the writers, but it would once again throw the leadership of the show into question.

Is Gary Cole leaving NCIS season 21?

Fortunately, there are no such concerns to be had here. Parker is in it for the long haul. Cole went into great detail about the daunting task of replacing Mark Harmon during a 2022 interview with TV Insider.

“They actually wrote a moment that was not just for the team in the squad room but for the audience when Parker said, ‘I know this is weird. OK, I get it, but we’ve gotta get past this so we can get the job done…'”, he recalled. “That was a way for the [show] writers to send the signal to the viewers that yes, this was going to be different but also familiar because the show has been on for so long and has worked on so many different levels.”

Now that the character has moved past this transitional period, however, we will hopefully get a chance to see him get more fleshed out. There were flashes of the man he was prior to his time with NCIS, and even moments of anger and bitterness that were uncommon, given his usually calm facade. That’s the guy we want to see more of in season 21.
